KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday extended protective bail of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf for 15 days, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported. The court, however, barred him from leaving the country.
A single-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam had granted protective bail to Musharraf on March 22 in three high-profile cases of Benazir Bhutto assassination, Nawab Akbar Bugti murder and illegal confinement of 62 judges in which he was facing arrest warrants.
Earlier, the former military dictator and chief of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) arrived on Friday in the SHC to obtain an extension on his bail amid uproar.
On his arrival in the court premises scuffles between lawyers and policemen were witnessed when scores of infuriated law practitioners gathered outside chief justice’s chamber, chanting slogans against the Musharraf.
According to reports, Shoe was also hurled at the former President Pervez Musharraf inside the court premises, however, that missed him.
Dozens of APML workers were also present in the court premises where over 200 policemen were deployed to provide security to Pervez Musharraf.
