KARACHI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has vowed to go to any length for a secure and terror free Karachi to ensure a peaceful and fearless routine daily life for people of the city.

The COAS made these remarks when he visited Corps Headquarters in Karachi on Wednesday and presided over a special security meeting.

The meeting was attended by Corps Commander Karachi, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, DG Military Intelligence (MI), DG Rangers and DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa.

During the meeting, the COAS was briefed in detail regarding the ongoing Karachi operation including intelligence based operation.

The COAS appreciated Sindh Rangers and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) for their successes in improving security environment in Karachi.

The army chief specially commended the intelligence agencies for achieving major breakthroughs in unearthing various terrorist networks in their bid to dismantle terror infrastructure and sever their linkages with terrorists cells and bases outside Karachi.
