ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The registration has been started for various activities of youth for Asia`s 1st ever Social Sciences expo which would be held on 24-25th February 2016 at Islamabad.

The activities for the expo would be included essay writing competition, poster competition, case study competitions, business plan competition, panel discussion, workshops, documentary production on social issues of Pakistan, photography and various other innovative events.

Talking to APP here Wednesday, the spokesman of the Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS) said that this expo would be organized with alliance of more than 30 universities of the country aiming at to celebrate 2016 as year of Social Sciences.

He said the IUCPSS in close partnership with its partner organizations and member universities will also organize a number of countrywide events As a follow-up of the Roadmap for Strengthening Social Sciences in Pakistan.

The purpose of this expo is to educate masses about the growth prospects and impact of social sciences on society. During the two-day expo, different universities/organizations and government departments would establish their pavilions such as Hunar-Kada, Khidmat-e-Khalq, Business Gurus, Ehle-e-Zaban, Ablagh-e-Aama, Sifarat Khana and Tourism.

The expo will be attended by academicians, government officials, researchers, practitioners/corporate managers, entrepreneurs, celebrities, research journal publishers, media and civil society.

While describing the objectives of these two mega event, Chairman LUCPSS Dr Nasser Ali Khan said that through these activities, Pakistani universities, academics, policymakers, research and development organizations, government departments and civil society would join hands to strengthen social sciences in Pakistan.
