ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Tuesday summoned the Afghan Charge d’Affaires Syed Abdul Nasir Yousafi to convey Pakistan’s concern regarding use of Afghan soil by certain terrorist elements in the recent attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.

“He was told that investigations have revealed that handlers of this terrorist act were operating from Afghan territory and used Afghan telecommunication network for planning and executing this attack. In this regard, the relevant details have already been shared with the Afghan side,” said a press release issued by the Foreign Office on Tuesday.

The Foreign Office urged the Afghan government to take action against perpetrators of this heinous act of terrorism and extend cooperation to Pakistani authorities to bring them to justice at the earliest.

A group of terrorist stormed the Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Charsadda town on January 20, and martyred at least 21 persons mostly students.

The Director General Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) Lt. General Asim Bajwa while briefing the media in Peshawar on January 23 about the Bacha Khan University attack said that four terrorists and their four facilitators were involved in the attack. He told that terrorists came from Afghanistan and they reached Mardan while using public transport.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif also held a telephonic conversation with the Afghan leadership a day after the attack and shared details about Bacha Khan University attack. The COAS asked the Afghan leadership to cooperate in locating and targeting those responsible for this heinous act and bring them to justice.
