ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Joint Commission of Pakistan and Tajikistan agreed to enhance bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in all sectors including energy.

A high level delegation headed by Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif who was on official visit to Tajikistan met various Ministers of Tajikistan including the Minister for Energy and Water Resources Usmon Usmonzade, Minister for Defence General Sherali Mirzo, Minister for Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Aslov, Minister for Industry and new Technology Shaukat Bobozoda and discussed with them matters related to their ministries.

According to the embassy of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Minister for Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Usmon Usmonzoda held first meeting of the Pak-Tajik Joint Working Group on Energy and Infrastructure and discussed details of cooperation between the two brotherly countries with special reference to CASA-1000 project. Under, this project, Tajikistan would export 1000 MW hydel electricity to Pakistan by 2018 through a 750 Km long transmission line.

During the meeting, the Joint Pak-Tajik Joint Working Group on Energy and Infrastructure agreed to continue its work and identify further projects for the two countries in future.

The delegation headed by Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif who is also holding portfolio of the Defence Ministry would leave for Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday on one day official visit.

The delegation is visiting Kyrgyzstan on the invitation of the Government of Kyrgyzstan and will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries with special reference to import of 300 MW electricity from Kyrgyzstan via Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
