LAHORE, Pakistan: A delegation of heads of Chinese companies and investors led by Secretary Qingdao Committee, Communist Party of China Li Qun, called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here Thursday.

The Chinese delegation expressed keen interest in investment in energy, infrastructure, transport, industrial parks, housing and other sectors, and also agreed to further promote investment and cooperation in different sectors in Punjab.

On this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan and China were very reliable and sincere friends, and historic economic package of 46 billion dollars given by Chinese President was a great gift for Pakistan.

He said the historic friendship between Pakistan and China had turned into extraordinary economic cooperation.

The Chief Minister said that the work had been started speedily on various projects in energy, infrastructure, transport and other sectors under China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Chinese President’s vision ‘one belt one road’ would play an important role in the development of the region including Pakistan.

He said investment by Chinese investors in various sectors in Punjab would be welcomed, adding that Chinese investors should benefit from vast opportunities of investment in the province and assured that all out facilities would be provided to them.

Shahbaz Sharif said that work was being carried out speedily on 1320 megawatts coal power plant in Sahiwal, asserting that this project was being implemented with 100 percent Chinese investment and would start production in 2017.

He said that during Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to China, the Chinese Prime Minister expressed willingness to transfer production technology to Pakistan.

He said that this step of Chinese Prime Minister would result in development of industrial sector and creation of employment opportunities.

He said that high standard and transparency in the completion of development projects was the hallmark of Punjab government.

The Chief Minister said that Pak-China economic cooperation would be taken to new heights.

Secretary Communist Party of China Qingdao Committee Li Qun said that he was deeply impressed with the pace of work on development projects in Punjab.

He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was implementing projects with determination. He said that there was no doubt that Shahbaz Sharif was Pakistan’s man of action.

He said that the transparency and standard in the execution of development projects in Punjab was the result of extraordinary capabilities of Shahbaz Sharif. He said that cooperation with Punjab government in different sectors would be further promoted.
