The incident took place around 10 am Indian Standard Times (IST) near Badpola village in Dwarka when aircraft fell down on populated village. It was a chartered flight that lost control while taking off and hit a wall.

According to BSF official statement, aircraft was  Ranchi-bound BSF Superking carrying technicians. Eight dead bodies have been recovered from the aircraft crash site.

Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh reached the spot. The plane was manufactured in 1994 and was inducted in BSF Air wing in August 1995. Foggy weather can be one of the cause of the crash but eye witnesses said that aircraft could not manage thrust while taking off. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma has launched an inquiry into the incident. DG level talks between India and Bangladesh beginning today in Dhaka postponed due to BSF plane crash, reports PTI.
