Delhi, India: Security forces started rescue operation after the crash of Border Security Force Force (BSF) light Super King aircraft in Dwarka Delhi. Initial reports suggest 10 killed in the crash. All bodies were removed wreckage.
All flights have been suspended to and from Delhi Airport. Authorities of BSF and Indian Army reached spot and recovered bodies from debris. The Beechcraft Super King Air family is part of a line of twin-turboprop aircraft produced by Beechcraft.
The incident took place around 10 am Indian Standard Times (IST) near Badpola village in Dwarka when aircraft fell down on populated village. It was a chartered flight that lost control while taking off and hit a wall.
According to BSF official statement, aircraft was Ranchi-bound BSF Superking carrying technicians. Eight dead bodies have been recovered from the aircraft crash site.
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh reached the spot. The plane was manufactured in 1994 and was inducted in BSF Air wing in August 1995. Foggy weather can be one of the cause of the crash but eye witnesses said that aircraft could not manage thrust while taking off. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma has launched an inquiry into the incident. DG level talks between India and Bangladesh beginning today in Dhaka postponed due to BSF plane crash, reports PTI.
According to initial reports, aircraft failed to maintain its thrust that was needed at the time of take and possible reason could be faulty fuel injection system of the engine. “People could see that aircraft was not getting hight and hit the wall of taking off strip”, claimed an eye witness.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi has expressed deep shock and distress over the tragic BSF aircraft crash.
