RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: In connection with first anniversary of Army Public School tragedy in Peshawar, commemoration ceremonies continue to be held across Pakistan and some parts of the world to pay homage to the martyrs of APS.
A commemoration ceremony was also held at Yadgar-e- Shuhada Chaklala Garrison Rawalpindi to reinvigorate the sacrifices of young martyrs of army public school Peshawar, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR said that students of various schools, representatives of civil society and armed forces attended the ceremony to pay homage to the young martyrs.
The Corps Commander 10 Corps Lieutenant General Malik Zafar Iqbal laid the wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
Likewise, commemoration ceremonies were also organized at Pakistani embassies in Turkey and China to pay homage to the martyrs of APS Peshawar
The people from different walks of life including students attended the ceremonies to show solidarity with the martyred students of army-run school in Peshawar which was rocked by one of the deadliest terror attacks on December 16, 2014.
The terrorist attack which was later claimed by the banned organization Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) left 144 persons including 132 innocent school children dead.
Earlier on Wednesday, the main ceremony to commemorate the martyrs of APS was held in Peshawar when the country was observing the first anniversary of brutal attack on Army Public School Peshawar.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif also participated among other top political and military leaders in the event.
In his address on the occasion, the prime minister announced to observe December 16 as the Day of National Resolve to promote Education. He also announced to establish APS Martyrs University in honour of the innocent schoolchildren who lost their lives in the barbaric incident.
