ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan is experiencing a week-long special programmes to mark the first anniversary of the martyrs of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar.

It was December 16, 2014 when the whole world suffered mixed feelings of shock, anger and sorrow over the massacre of more than 100 innocent children in a deadly terror attack at the APS.

In connection with solidarity week being commemorated across Pakistan for the Peshawar tragedy from December 10 to 16, various ceremonies are being organized in the memory of martyrdom of APS.

The especial programmes and ceremonies which include speech competitions, seminars, rallies, walks, dramas, Mehfil-e-Mushairas, exhibitions, candlelight vigils, special prayers, Quran Khawani and so on are being arranged at various venues to pay homage to the martyrs of Peshawar army public school with due solemnity and reverence.

The organizers and participants of the events are of the view that the children of APS had set a brave example and their sacrifices will not go in vain. They say that the nation is united and would foil nefarious designs of the terrorists.

In addition, they also demand the federal government as well as all provincial governments to ensure the safety of educational institutions so that the children could get education in a safe and healthy environment.
