ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and India on Wednesday decided to resume the dialogue process to discuss and sort out all their outstanding issues under the new name “Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue Process.”

While addressing a joint press conference at the Foreign Office in Islamabad along with Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz following bilateral meeting, the Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj said that all the pillars of the Composite Dialogue Process and Resumed Dialogue Process will be included in the new format of Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue Process.

The Indian external affairs minister said that Foreign Secretaries of the two countries had been asked to prepare the modalities and schedule of the meetings of all the pillars of the newly agreed Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue Process.

Sushma Swaraj said that Pakistan and India agreed to resume the dialogue process following the successful meeting of their advisors on national security, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Earlier, the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday evening.

Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry assisted Nawaz Sharif while Indian senior officials aided Sushma Swaraj.

Sushma Swaraj also held a meeting with the senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz Sharif and discussed different aspects of bilateral relations.

The Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj was in Pakistan on a two-day official visit to attend the fifth Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Ministerial conference.

Earlier in the day, addressing the Conference, Sushma Swaraj said that her country was ready to extend cooperation for the restoration of peace in Afghanistan. She also confirmed that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will Pakistan next year to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Conference.
