Durban:  Russia has offered South Africa credit support to build nuclear power plants using Russian specialists.

According to Russian media, the offer was tabled to South Africa by Russian Vladimir Putin to his South African counterpart Jacob Zuma during side-line talks at  BRICS summit.

Both also agreed on cooperation in the field of communication and South Africa will help Russia maintain the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS).

 “Russia is offering South Africa not only to help with construction of nuclear power reactors, but also with the creation of an advanced nuclear power industry, including the extraction of raw materials, construction of NPPs and research reactors, design and domestic production of nuclear power equipment with Russian credit support,” said Putin.
