MediaSecurity survey of media houses completed by Islamabad Police

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: With a purpose to ensure effective security arrangements of media outlets, Capital Police have conducted the security audit and survey of 38 media houses and installed panic alert system there to avert any untoward incident.

Talking to media, police source said that Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has categorically asked to review security arrangements of media outlets and various steps have been taken by Islamabad Police for elaborate security at media houses.

He said that various meetings have been already conducted by the police officials with PID officers and representatives of media houses.

It was told that panic alert system has been installed at 31 media houses after conducting the security audit of 38 media outlets while 123 security guards have been given security training in 3-day programme.

It may be mentioned that a local television channel DIN News was attacked on December 1, 2015 by unidentified attackers who hurled a hand grenade there resulting injuries to two policemen and a worker.

In addition, the source said that security audit of 150 buildings have been completed and 530 bunkers have been constructed for guards, deputed there for security purpose.

An SOP has been prepared for security of various buildings and it has been divided into four clusters. He said that a total of 1723 guards have been given security training so far and this exercise would remain continue in next month.

He said that media is playing an important role in perspective of security situation in the country and Interior Minister has categorically asked to ensure fool-proof arrangements there.

He said that media representatives have shared the security plan with owners of media outlets and complete coordination will be ensured with police in this regard.
