ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research (NIHCR), Centre of Excellence, Quaid-i-Azam University to hold a three-day International Conference on “Sindh: History and Culture” in collaboration with Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, from November 23-25 at Khairpur.

The purpose of the forthcoming conference is to explore and analyze Sindh’s rich history and culture in a factual and more objective way, said a press release Tuesday.

Prof. Dr. Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah, Director NIHCR said the conference aims at highlighting a number of important themes and sub-themes of history and culture of Sindh.

The other objectives are to highlight and explore new avenues of research, to provide a forum to the scholars for exchange of ideas, and also to investigate the hither to unexplored fields in the domain of history and culture.

Dr. Himayatullah Yaqubi, Secretary of the conference elaborated that Sindh province has thousands years old history and rich cultural landscapes.

Being the national institute NIHCR is actively pursuing its core mission of exploring history and culture of various regions of Pakistan.

He hoped that the conference will bring people closer of country’s provinces.

He assured that like previous events the upcoming conference will be a big success story.

There will be eight Academic Sessions on November 23 and 24 in which more than 50 delegates from Pakistan and abroad will present their papers on History and Culture of Sindh. The third and final day of the conference on 25 November has been fixed for excursion of delegates and organizers to different places of Sindh.

It is pertinent to mention here that this conference is part of a series of conferences on the province of Pakistan which the NIHCR started couple of years back with the conference on “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: History and Culture” 2012 in Peshawar and an International Conference on “Balochistan: History and Culture” in 2014 in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.
