ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to increase their bilateral cooperation in various fields which will eventually open news avenues of progress in their respective countries.

In a joint press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday along with the Belarusian Prime Minister Andrey Kobyakov after a one-on-one talks, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan will boost its cooperation with Belarus in oil and gas fields.

Sharif said that the two countries have signed a number of agreements.

The prime minister said that the third meeting of the Pak-Belarus Business Forum will promote relations in the business community of the two countries. He said that it will help implement the points agreed between Pakistan and Belarus.

In his remarks, the Belarus prime minister said that his country will promote economic cooperation with Pakistan focusing on agriculture, infrastructure and mineral sectors.

Andrei Kobyakov said that joint projects will be launched in agriculture and food sectors. He said that Belarus would provide expertise in gas and oil exploration to Pakistan.

The Belarusian premier said that several agreements signed between Pakistan and Belarus fully reflects the warm relations between the two countries.

Earlier, the two prime minster held a discussion on issues of bilateral interest with particular focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, defence and culture.

In the meeting, the two prime ministers agreed on strengthening ties at the governmental and people-to-people levels for the mutual benefit of their countries.
