Seven Khasadars killed as blast targets polio team in Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR: Two back-to-back bombs targeting Khasadars (tribal security force) guarding a polio vaccination team in Jamrud Tehsil of Khyber tribal area went off on Saturday, killing at least 11 force personnel and injuring 10 others.

   

The blasts took place in the Lashoro area of Jamrud that claimed the lives of 11 Khasadars and damaged their two vehicles.

The political administration officer Siddiq Khan said that the two planted IEDs which exploded back to back were detonated through remote-controlled devices. He said that one of the vehicles was completely destroyed while the other was partially damaged.

The security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the blasts in Khyber Agency and expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the incident.
