RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Pakistan’s military carried out fresh air strikes in Tirah valley of the Khyber tribal region, killing at least 57 militants.

The air strikes were conducted in the aftermath of Monday’s deadly Taliban attack on an army public school in Peshawar which left at least 148 persons mostly children dead.

The DG ISPR said that the operation is continuing.

On Wednesday, the COAS made a visit to Kabul where he met the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Commander General Joseph F. Dunford.

During his visit, the army chief shared classified intelligence details with the Afghan officials and revealed to them that the mastermind behind the Peshawar attack had been giving directives to the perpetrators of the attack from Afghanistan.

The Afghan president assured the army chief that Afghan soil will not be allowed for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

On the other hand, addressing a meeting of parliamentary leaders in Peshawar on Wednesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed the resolve of the nation to take the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion.

The prime minister stressed that the nation is waging jihad against terrorism and this mission will not be left unaccomplished.
