The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared as many as 17,007 polling stations ‘highly sensitive’, set up across the Country for upcoming general elections 2018.

As per the ECP data, a total of 85,307 polling stations have been set up across the Country; out of which; 47,813 are in Punjab; 17,747 in Sindh; 12,634 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; 4,420 in Balochistan; and 360 in the Federal Capital.

Out of these 85,307 polling stations, 17,007 polling stations have been declared ‘highly sensitive’. In Punjab and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT); 5,487 polling stations have been declared ‘highly sensitive’; in Sindh 5,878; in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA 3,874; and in Balochistan 1,768.

Likewise, according to the ECP data, 20,789 polling stations across the Country have been marked as ‘sensitive’.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has the most number of ‘sensitive’ polling stations with 7,386; followed by Sindh with 5,776; Punjab with 5,686; Balochistan with 1,768, and ICT with 173.

For July 25 general elections, a total of 105,955,409 people (both male and female) across Pakistan have been registered as registered voters.

While briefing media men in Rawalpindi on July 10, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said that 3,71,388 armed forces personnel were required to ensure peaceful conduct of elections 2018.
