KARACHI: During the ongoing search operation in the city at least 141 miscreants were arrested in last three days the rangers also claimed to have arrested over 50 miscreants in yesterday’s action.

According to the spokesman of the rangers, the arrested miscreants are involved in different activities of target-killings and bhatta (extortion) mafia activities in the city. The paramilitary troops also recovered firearms from the custody of the miscreants.

The spokesman of the rangers said the arrested miscreants who belong to political parties and Lyari gang-war, are involved in target-killings and bhatta mafia activities.

Meantime, SSP Malir Nasir Aftab, while addressing a press conference here, noted the police personnel of east zone arrested 141 miscreants during three days, adding the arrested miscreants have been booked for their involvement in heinous crimes including bhatta activities and target-killings.

The SSP Malir said a bhatta mafia man Saifur Rehman was arrested following an armed encounter in Sachal, adding Saif demanded Rs.500,000 as extortion money.

A target-killer was apprehended from Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

In another police action, a criminal involved in over nine target killings was arrested. Meantime, a bhatta mafia man, Umair, was captured from Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
