Monitoring Desk: Punjab University has decided to contact the FIA to recover money from absconding teachers and block their passports and CNIC cards, as the accused did not join the University after enjoying state and university foreign scholarships worth millions.

The University has decided to reach out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior to block absconding teachers’ identity cards and passports.

56 teachers of Punjab University received grants worth crores to do PhD abroad. Seven teachers of Punjab University are absconding with HEC scholarships, while five teachers of Punjab University are absconding with university scholarships. According to the law, all teachers had to serve in the university for five years after earning a PhD abroad. 12 out of 56 teachers did not join the university after completing their education abroad on foreign scholarships.

The absconding teachers had to pay crores of rupees to the university as per the agreement for not joining duty. Farah Sattar of Punjab University GIS Center absconding without paying Rs. 70 lakhs, Syed Mohsin Ali of GIS Center absconding without paying Rs. 14 million Kiran Ayesha of Institute of Administrative Sciences Rs 10 million absconded Rabia Ibad of MMG department absconded Rs 9 million Khwaja Khurram Khurshid of IQTM absconded Rs 8.4 million Shamila Ishaq of Hailey College of Commerce absconded Rs 16.1 million Usman Rahim of Center for Coal Technology absconded Rs 7.2 million Salman Aziz of College of Engineering absconded Rs 9 million, Muhammad Nawaz of GIS absconded Rs 7.2 million Javeriya Iqbal of PUCIT absconded Rs 6 million Simab Ara of Administrative Sciences absconded Rs 10 million, Samia Mahmood absconded Rs 11.6 million.

The university also dismissed Farah Sattar, Punjab University GIS Center, Syed Mohsin Ali of GIS Center, Punjab University, Kiran Ayesha of the Institute of Administrative Sciences, Rabia Ibad of the MMG department, Khwaja Khurram Khurshid of IQTM, Shamila Ishaq of Hailey College of Commerce, Usman Rahim of the Center for Coal Technology, Salman Aziz of College of Engineering, Muhammad Nawaz of GIS, Javeriya Iqbal of PUCIT, and Simab Ara of Administrative Sciences from the university service, the spokesperson said.
