PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police has installed `One-Click SOS system’ in 22978 educational institutions in the province to thwart any type of militants’ misadventure like that of the Army Public School attack.

The One-Click SOS system is an android-based application. With the help of this system, a simple click on the alert button sends message to 10 different locations including nearby police stations, relevant police control, field officers and Central Police Office.

The alert also shows the exact location of the place under attack and the shortest possible route for the law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

This system has been installed in 2265 institutions in Mansehra district followed by 1970 in Dera Ismail Khan, 1961 in Mardan, 1680 in Peshawar and 1613 educational institutions in Swat and all these institutions have been linked with the `One-Click SOS’ alert system.

Apart from educational institutions, the alert system has been installed in 484 banks, 1191 jewellery shops, 68 money changers and nine NADRA offices in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Initially, the system was launched for the security of educational institutions following militants attack on Army Public School in December 2014 but later it was decided to extend the system to other sensitive installations and buildings.
