11 killed in shutting at Charlie Hebdo offices in ParisPARIS, France: At least 12 persons including two policemen were killed while 10 wounded when two unknown gunmen opened fire in the headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical weekly newspaper, in central Paris.

In a statement, the French President Francois Hollande said that the shooting at Charlie Hebdo is “undoubtedly a terrorist attack”. 

The French president confirmed that 11 persons were killed and four sustained critical injuries while at least 40 were “saved.”

The numbers of victims is likely to rise, Hollande added.

Hollande further said that “several terrorist attacks have been prevented in recent weeks.”

Meanwhile, the French government said that it was raising national security level to the highest notch, according to Reuters.

In November 2011, the newspaper headquarters were firebombed and its website was hacked after a spoof issue featuring a caricature of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) on its cover.
