Monitoring Desk: The case of “Operation Trojan Horse” has taken an interesting turn as the “focal person” and the former Chairman of Park View Educational Trust Tahir Alam has claimed that the case is “politically motivated” and “does not reflect the realities on the ground”.
Tahir Alam who did not answer letters sent by the Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Schools Lord Nash gave an interview to a UK based radio channel on Wednesday and refuted all allegations leveled by Peter Clarke, the former Metropolitan police counter-terrorism command who led the investigation of “Operation Trojan Horse”. Meanwhile, Lord Nash has written a new letter to the Park View Educational Trust. Lord Nash maintained that following resignation of trustees on 16 July, he does not intend to continue with the termination process but has demanded a complete action plan by October 1, 2014 that demonstrates to him that the matters of concern (issue of “Operation Trojan Horse”) will be addressed promptly and in full.
Tahir Alam in his interview not only refuted all allegations rather gave a new twist to whole scandal calling it political motivated. He said in radio interview:
“If we look at Peter Clarke’s report, it was commissioned as part of a campaign really, an offensive against our school, which was politically motivated”.

What is “Operation Trojan Horse”?
There are reports published in pieces about “Operation Trojan Horse”, an alleged organised attempt by purists Islamists with the alleged support of Muslim Council of Britain to promote extremism, hatred against non-Muslims and British values.
Investigations accuse dozens of educational institutions run by the Park View Educational Trust that is directly linked with the Muslim Council of Britain are spreading hatred against other religions, abusing European system and breeding extremism since early 1990s. If these allegations are true, the European countries particularly United Kingdom should comprehend and admit that these schools must have brought up thousands of young Muslims during the last 24 years who do not have any respect for British values and European norms. Of course these pupils of past are spread all over the West having British passports.
Indian and Pakistani Muslim families living in United Kingdom are quite vocal that Muslim Council of Britain and its supporting educational institutions are teaching only one sect of Islam and have strong influence of Saudi Arabia and Wahabi school of thought. However British administration always shows soft corner for Muslim Council of Britain even after receiving complaints from parents of students studying in these educational institutions. Indian and Pakistani Muslim families are claiming that UK authorities are taking action against these schools after receiving information that Britisher Jihadis are fighting as foot soldiers of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Still UK authorities are shy to share all information because UK authorities claim that 500 British Jihadis are in Syria while ISIS indicates they are more than 5000.
The Muslim Council of Britain considers itself a national representative Muslim umbrella body with over 500 affiliated national, regional and local organisations, mosques, charities and schools. It is an independent body, established to promote consultation, cooperation and coordination on Muslim affairs in the United Kingdom.
Why investigations started?
The leaked letter was reported by media on 7 March 2014. The city council received documents that claim purists Islamists are targeting schools and orchestrating false allegations against staff, including non-Muslims, in an operation dubbed Trojan Horse. The documents claim to be leaked written correspondence from one Birmingham fundamentalist to another in Bradford and details plans to roll out Trojan Horse to Bradford as well as Manchester. The letter was alleged to have been written from Birmingham and sent to a contact in Bradford to expand the operation into that city. The letter states some Birmingham headteachers have already been forced out and predicts others will follow. This letter indicates Islamists have already installed new headteachers at four schools in Birmingham and they plan to aim more 12 schools calling these schools “easy targets” due to large Muslim attendance and poor inspection reports. It encouraged parents to complain about the school’s leadership with false accusations of sex education, forced Christian prayer and mixed physical education, with the aim of obtaining a new leadership of Islamists.
This letter was dubbed by police and the media as “Fake” and as an attempt of some former employees of schools (in question) to defame governors of these schools. The Times, Guardian, The Independent, BBC and other leading media houses expressed that this letter was just a fake document.
