TourismPTDC plans to promote tourism in Azad Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has devised a plan to promote tourism in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) by constructing pre-fab PTDC motels, chairlift and Tourist Facilitation Center.

Talking to the state-run news agency in Islamabad, the Managing Director PTDC Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor said that during his recent visit to AJK, he shared the plan with the senior government officials of AJK government.

The Managing Director PTDC said that PTDC expressed its desire for allotment of lands by AJK government to PTDC for construction of pre-fab motels at Jagran (Neelam Valley),  Karen, Dao Khan (Leepa Valley), Neelam Village, Sharda,  Kail, Chakkar (Sudhan Gali), Neela Butt (Bagh), Kalikot, Forward Kahuta, Tarar Khal (Palandri) and Nakyal Kotli. He said that for installing chairlift at Peer Chansai 22 Kanal land was required to PTDC.

The Managing Director PTDC said that a tourism website will be established on modern line to facilitate tourists.

Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor said that tourism documentary films will be produced which will include beautiful places and scenes of tourist attractions of Kashmir so that tourists visiting Pakistan may also enjoy scenic beauty of Kashmir.

The present democratic government is committed to promote tourism industry which would not only help to revive the economy but also remove any misconceptions about Pakistan, the he said.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
