ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that a total of 184 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 52 Senate seats on which election will be held on March 5.
In a press release issued on Monday, the ECP said that 23 candidates from Punjab, 28 candidates from Sindh, 39 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 42 from Balochistan, 43 from the Federal Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) and nine from Islamabad have submitted their nomination papers.
Nominated candidates for Senate election 2015
The Senate elections will take place on March 5 during which 52 new lawmakers will be elected for the 104-member upper house.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on the February 19 and 20.
The appeals can be filed against rejection of nominations on February 23 and 24 while appeals will be disposed of on February 26 and 27.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 28 while on the same day, the final list of candidates will be issued.
